Catalonia has an important choral tradition that draws from the immense work of Josep Anselm Clavé and the numerous orpheons that were founded throughout the country at the end of the 19th century. One of the genres that have historically been more cultivated in these choirs and orchestras is the Catalan popular song, and numerous composers have devoted their attention to it since the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as current composers. This program presents a set of recent choral arrangements of popular songs (some of which are unpublished) alongside others that have already become classics in the repertoire of many Catalan choirs.
The Albada Choir is part of the Madrigal Choir Group and is made up of twenty young people between the ages of eighteen and thirty. He has performed throughout Catalonia and on various stages in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Germany. He has recorded several works, including Mozart’s Requiem and David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus.
