The Salvadora Catà Choir was born in Girona in September 2017 as an integral collective of the Ateneu Popular Salvadora Catà.
It is a transfeminist and non-mixed choir that wants to make women visible on stage, bringing music to the social struggle.
It is a choir self-managed by all the people who are part of it, which promotes family conciliation, care and the coexistence of different generations to share and grow with women who are at different times of life.
Salvadora Catà was the first woman to be sentenced to death and shot in Girona by the Franco regime in 1939; with this name, the choir shows its support for all women who suffer the oppression of the patriarchy.
